How to Keep Your Laptop From Sleeping

There is, however, another setting you can change to keep your computer from sleeping. This setting is called the “power plan,” and you can find it by going to your computer’s “Control Panel.”

From there, select “Hardware and Sound” and then “Power Options.” On the next screen, you should see a list of different power plans. The plan you’re using will likely be labeled as “Balanced” or “Power Saver.” To keep your computer from going to sleep, you want to select the “High Performance” plan. Now that you’ve selected the High Performance plan, your computer will stay awake as long as it’s plugged in.

Note: If you’re using a laptop, you may want to consider using the “Power Saver” plan instead of “High Performance.” The reason for this is that the High Performance plan can drain your battery quickly.
